God is Able

Over the last few weeks I have been reading a book by Priscilla Shirer called, God is Able. She ends each chapter with the passage from Ephesians 3:20, “Now unto Him who is able to do exceeding, abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory.”

She emphasizes throughout the book that God is able to do, well …anything. I think most of would pretty much agree on that, don’t you?! But it’s not just the fact that He can do anything, but that He can do exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think!!!

Yep, He sure can! And I saw that today as I watched the video of our family from the 700 club. It was so far beyond anything that I could have ever imagined in my wildest dreams! And if you had been here the day they shot the footage you would probably agree!! Lol.

But after reading that verse so many times these last few weeks, I realize there are also two other very important parts to that scripture…maybe even more important than the fact that He is able.  It’s the part I sometimes forget….ok, most of the time …according to the power that works in us. He is able to do more than we think or ask because He is using His power, not ours. I have a hard time remembering that part when I am asking Him to help me do something I don’t feel equipped to do or answer some really radical prayer. But the fact is, I don’t need to rely on my own abilities or resources. Thank goodness, I have access to His!!!

And the last most important part….to Him be the glory. Everything I do, say, or think should be to bring Him honor and glory. Not one bit of glory or recognition belongs to Rob or me for this video. It is completely and totally about the Lord and all that He has been so gracious to do in our lives. Just as I have to be careful to remind myself that He is able and that I have access to His infinite power I also have to make a conscious effort not to take credit that doesn’t belong to me.

So, thank you Lord for doing exceeding, abundantly beyond all that I imagined today and to You be the glory forever and ever!!
