His Book first, then Facebook

Well, the new year is under way and the resolutions are swarming.

I  have been thinking about a few myself…you know the usual eat better, exercise ( which I never keep), be a better mom, wife and friend…my list is usually pretty long. But for some reason this one ‘resolution’ has been hanging around in my head for months.

I think it originated one night when I was talking to one of the young girls in my small group at church. His Book first, then Facebook. We were talking about spending time with The Lord each day and how important it was to begin each morning in His word. We both expressed struggling at times, but then I was reminded of how much time I give to Facebook each day.

If I have enough time to scroll around on Facebook, then shouldn’t I be able to spend time with the One who breathed life into me and sent His Son to die for me?

So, I challenged her and myself to only go on Facebook if we had first spent time reading our Bible. Praying and talking with Him during the day is great, but there is life-changing power in reading His Word.

If I ever expect to change and become the wife, mom, friend and Christian I would like to be, then I am going to have to spend time in the one Book that can help me do that….and unfortunately it’s not Facebook! Lol.

I hope you will take this challenge too….have a blessed day!

It is amazing but these are the very same thoughts I had before the beginning of the New Year! I have kept this practice and have found Ai much prefer it as well. and as you stated “If I ever expect to change and become the better wife, mom, friend and Christian I would like to be, then I am going to have to spend time in the one Book that can help me do it!”

Thank you so much for your words Melody I truly do enjoy reading them
