Wow…we are a long way from home! Three buses, three planes and almost two days later and we have finally arrived in Lobatse Botswana! I don’t know that anything could have prepared me for the conditions we have seen so far. I am already more grateful for all the blessings we normally take for granted!
Shortly after arriving we met with all four missionaries for a debriefing. Their culture is very different from ours, so they wanted to go over a few things we might encounter while in the villages. For instance, it is not considered odd to see two guys or two women holding hands. This is merely a sign of friendship among two people of the same sex. They also shared some of the different ways we may be greeted by the people in the villages. And lastly, they assured us that one of the girls would more than likely get a marriage proposal before the week was out!
I can hardly believe we are finally here, and I am so excited to see what God has in store over the next ten days!
